Important ideas.

I think that doing these blogs helped me. At times i didnt know how to express myself and i didnt know what to say about the book. But when i read other peoples blogs and i saw what they wrote it helped me get my thoughts together. I think that commenting on other peoples blogs helped. In a way everyone sees everything differently and when i read another persons perspective on the book it helps me understand it more. I think that people wrote more about their take on the book after reading my blogs. Maybe they dont see it the same as i do. When i read other peoples blogs i learned things that i didnt see when i was reading the story. After reading mine someone like Jess , wrote about me in her blog. She talked about a lot of things that i talked about. i think that her insight changed a lot when she read mine. Many other people also commented on my blogs and took some of my ideas. I think that in a way we all agreed one many of the same things. I think that blogging was a great idea because it helped many people see other peoples insights on the books that we read.

Parallels between the world of the novel and our world.

Their are many parallels between the society in 1984 and our society today. Many things that our government does today are turning our society close to the things the government does in 1984. The governments are alike because George Bush, our president, passed the patriot act which allows the government agencies to tap into our phone wires at anytime. The government can hear any citizens’ conversation. This seems to me like a violation of my rights. I personally do not like if someone were listening to what i say. Another way our government is like 1984 is, by having political parties. During the election times of the year, you will see many parties like Democratic, republican, or green parties trying to persuade you into voting for them because it will be for the good of the people. The things the political party members tell us are that they are doing things for the better. In 1984 the party members try to convince the comrades of certain things so that the don't go against the government. These things show that we don't have a perfect society, and in a way if our society keeps going on the way it already is, one day, our society will be just like Oceania.
