Warnings the author tried to get across.

After reading the book 1984 I learned a lot about a dystopian society. The author, George Orwell, puts out many warnings about how if we don’t change our ways, out society will turn into a dystopia. Some are the warnings are the Thought Police and Two Minutes Hate. The warnings the author, George Orwell, tries to tell you are if our society continues on the way it is people wont even be able to think without having people listening to it. I think that many people will get the message of the thought police because I wouldn't want people listening in on what I think. Winston Smith has to spend his time with his lover Julia sneaking around trying not to have the police catch them. Another example of a warning from 1984 is Two Minutes Hate. During Two Minutes Hate Emmanuel Goldstein shows up on a telescreen and everyone in Oceania yells and screams. Everyone hates Emmanuel Goldstein becuase he is going against the government. The government brainwashed everyone in the society to hate the people who go against the government In 1984 the portrayal of a dystopian society may be a little far fetched, but this book was a warning to our society.

Oddness of the society

Throughout the book I have found some very odd things. One example would be how the Parsons kids like to watch others be hung. Another odd thing is the societies slogans, and the socities take on freedom. One of the slogans in the book is "Freedom is the freedom to say that two plus two equals four. If that is granted, all else follows." That is an odd take on freedom. I dont understand why the government is so out of control. Some of the things that go on in the book confuse me. I dont understand how a society could turn into this.

How do they not know?

I dont understand how the people in Oceanis do not know what their life is actually like. Can people in Oceania read? Well if they can how do they not know about our society. In Dana's blog I agree with her when she says, " don't understand how the government got to be the way it is." How could a government control a society so much, and why cant the society be like ours. I also agree that Winston knows that the government is wrong. Maybe by the end of the story The government will change.

1984

How does the government try to control everybody?

I think that the government tries to control everbody by using the thought police, and the normal police that look into peoples windows. I think they do this so no wrong can be done in Oceania. By watching everyone nothing bad will ever happen. If someone even thinks of doing bad in the society they will be arrested for it. There is never any bad in Oceania. The government doesnt try to control everyone, they do.

responsible blogging

I think that responsible blogging is very important. If you put your name out into the world for many people to see, predators or others scary people will start to stalk you. The odds of that happening are slim, but things happen, so you never know. You should never put you name, address or phone number out into the public. As long as you protect yourself from those predators and take every precautions that you can, then you should be safe.

1984(2)

I think that Winston is not comfortable in the society he lives in. My prediction for the story is that Winston will try to change the society or he will do something that may not be appropriate in the society. Winston seems like he wonders a lot about how a normal society is like the one we live in today. By the end of the story, I think that many things will change in Oceania.

1984

So far I think that 1984 is good. The book has a lot going on in it so far so it gets kind of confusing sometimes. The society that Winston lives in is very protected. I don't like how the people don't have any privacy. George Orwell did a good job with making up an unrealistic society. The society is a great example of a dystopia. The Thought Police seem as if it would be very unrealistic in out society. There are many ways our society differs from Oceania. The fact that police can look in your windows and listen to what you are thinking is very disturbing. So far i do like the book and I think its going to be very interesting.
