How do they not know?
I dont understand how the people in Oceanis do not know what their life is actually like. Can people in Oceania read? Well if they can how do they not know about our society. In Dana's blog I agree with her when she says, " don't understand how the government got to be the way it is." How could a government control a society so much, and why cant the society be like ours. I also agree that Winston knows that the government is wrong. Maybe by the end of the story The government will change.

Hayley: You make an interesting point, but I'd like to see you use this space to try and answer some of those questions. What is it that the government does to create such control? Remember, it is a dystopian novel, which carries with it a warning to our society. What is Orwell trying to warn us about so we don't get to where it is in 1984.
Use this to extend your thinking and expand on some good ideas you raise.
